Elasmosaurus is a large reptile that lived in a large lake in what is now known as Northern America. Elasmosaurus was part of a group of reptiles called plesiosaurs as they are well known by the possession of a small head, with flippers instead of legs and a very long neck, small head, turtle-shaped body with and a short tail.
At almost 50 feet and nearly three tons, Elasmosaurus was one of the largest plesiosaurs. Although its head was somewhat small, its jaws were filled with razar sharp pointed teeth. Its long neck allowed Elasmosaurus to quickly swing its head in all directions and snatch fish as they swam by. All four limbs were modified into paddles which made this dino very unique. The tail as too short to have been used for propulsion – it was probably used like a rudder on a boat to allow it to swiftly move through the water for prey.
